Countries around the world are working hard to promote green and low-carbon transformation. This trend is fundamentally changing the development model of human beings that focused on development and ignored social costs in the past. There is a huge space for global green development. In last year's budget, we put forward the vision of building Hong Kong into an "international green technology and financial center". Hong Kong has the unique position and advantage of relying on the motherland and connecting with the world. We have very good conditions to become a green super contact, bringing together enterprises, funds and professionals at home and abroad. We hope that with our own advantages and efforts, we can contribute to the sustainable future of the country, region and even the world, and at the same time bring new business opportunities and new development space for ourselves. 」

In his welcome speech at the 2024 of the Hong Kong Green Technology Forum, Dr. Ma Jun, President of the Green Development Research Institute, Honorary Chairman of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Green Finance Alliance, Chairman and President of the Hong Kong Green Finance Association, said: "In the context of global joint response to climate change, green technology has great growth potential and room for international cooperation. Hong Kong should vigorously develop green equity investments such as private equity funds and venture capital, and support the landing of green and low-carbon technology companies in Hong Kong, the Mainland and other parts of Asia; early deployment in green buildings, low-carbon transportation, and circular economy to create demonstration projects; Build an ecosystem that attracts domestic and foreign green technology companies in terms of incubation and acceleration policies, preferential financing, and scene development. 」

Dr. Cha Yichao, Chairman of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, also said: "The HKSTPC is committed to becoming a leader in promoting green innovation. In response to the Science-based Reduction Target Initiative (SBTi Science Based Target initiatives), it has formulated aggressive emission reduction targets based on * new climate science and hopes to jointly control the increase in global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius. Strengthening global international cooperation is a key way to accelerate carbon neutral technology innovation, and green finance can help its technology integrate into the market. Hong Kong has a long history in the fields of international exchanges and finance, and the mainland has a leading edge in global carbon neutral technologies, especially in the field of new energy. Green technology is an important help. China leads in key technologies such as solar photovoltaics, reducing the cost of wind power, battery chemistry and electric vehicles. As one of the most important ports in the world, Hong Kong can play an important role in decarbonizing shipping. I hope to continue to work with my friends in Mainland China and Hong Kong to promote the development of green technology and jointly achieve the goal of global carbon neutrality. 」
